Your digestive system "breaks down and processes"
everything you eat
during the day... The process starts by chewing. Your
esophagus then moves everything down to your stomach -- this
usually takes anywhere from a few minutes, to a half
hour.
For appoximately another 4 hours,
your stomach mixes the food with acid, sending everything down
to your small intestine. During the next 4 hours, your small
intestine receives very strong alkaline (digestive) juices
from your gallbladder and pancreas. These digestive juices mix
with the now liquified food and your body absorbs
it.
The digestive process continues on
down to your large intestine where the rest of any food and
fluids get absorbed into your body. This may take up to 12
hours! Any left over
residue is eventually eliminated but here's the GOOD NEWS...
This entire process not only BURNS CALORIES but more
importantly [frist], results in overall weight loss also known
as a NEGATIVE CALORIE EFFECT! In scientific terms, this
"negative calorie effect" is often referred to as "thermogenesis" or "diet-induced
thermogenesis."
Still Don't Understand?
Think about it... Any time you use
your muscles, any time you move -- any time your body exerts
any kind of energy, you burn calories. If you understand
that, you'll understand that the simple act of digestion also
burns calories.
Some foods are extremely simple
for the body to digest -- especially processed foods and foods
high in fat! Processed foods and foods high in fat require
your body to work very little and result in a very modest
expenditure of calories.
Why? Because most of the "breaking
down" that your digestion system would have performed on these
processed and high fat foods has already been performed by the
company that made the food in the first place with their
equipment and preparation methods hence the term, "processed
foods."

Digestion And Negative Calorie Foods...
Of course every person is
different but on average, people burn from 5% to 15% of
their total daily caloric intake just from digestion alone.
The trick is to be in the 10% to 15% group... You can
start moving toward and into that group simply by consuming
more negative calorie
foods.
Let's Do The Math...
Let's say your daily consumption
of calories runs right about at 2500 calories a day.
Let's also say that with your routine daily activity, your
body only requires 2000 calories to maintain its current
weight.
At this rate, you're consuming an
excess of 500 calories every day and since 3500 calories
equals a pound, you're gaining an additional pound every week.
If you're in the 5% group, your digestion
is burning about 125 calories... Day in and day
out.
If we subtract these 125 calories
from the 500 excess calories you'd be getting
every
day, you end up cutting the excess calories down to 375 a day
but even at this rate -- 3500 calories divided by 375 --
you're still going to gain that extra pound every 9.3 days
instead of 7.
But what if you were in the 10%
group? Here's how the numbers change... 10%
of
your daily
consumption of 2500 calories equals 250 calories burned during
your digestion every day. At this higher rate of diet-induced
thermogenesis, you're only in excess of 250 calories every day
instead 375. Now instead gaining that extra pound every 9.3
days, you're gaining it every 14
days.
See where we're going? We're
purposely NOT painting an easy picture
here... More like an average picture...
An obtainable picture. Just showing you the math. You've
already figured out you can tweak the above numbers. Add some
exercise to your daily routine, burn more, if not all of those
250 additional calories. The average person could do that
simply by walking for an hour every
day.
